Thanks! I like the idea that jades aren't just for dressing real sharp and padding out the dancefloor, but their entire function is to be The Guy Who Knows A Guy. I mean, it's pretty much canon that 'career gems' literally never have more than a few seconds of downtime, so when would they have time for networking? But then you still need a certain minimum amount of ritualized elbow-rubbing and social niceties to have a functioning society of any sort. So Back When the diamonds would have these Grand Ostentatious Attendance Is Mandatory Glory Be To The Gempire Gala Events every narratively convenient timestamp or so and the jades would come out and do the gossipy busybody socialite thing putting people in touch who needed to be so some shit can actually get done without the diamonds having to personally nanny everyone because they don't have time for this shit either. They'd probably also be good for rooting out insurgents because they got the good dirt on everybody. The gears of the empire must turn ever onward, and they are the grease! Sure would add A Layer to the cog-wheel dresses a lot of them seem to wear.
